Torsten Wilde
Biography
Torsten Wilde is a research associate at the Leibniz
Supercomputing Centre (LRZ), Germany. He received his
M.Sc. degree in "Parallel and Scientific computation" from
the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2000, and a Dipl.-Ing.
(FH) in "Technische Informatik" from the University of
Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany. He is currently
responsible for LRZ's research activities on energy
efficient HPC data center design and operation. In this
role, Torsten is working on methods of improving energy
efficiency across the whole data center, ranging from data
center infrastructure to application scheduling. He is a
team member of the energy efficiency task force at LRZ, a
member of the Energy Efficient High Performance Computing
Working Group (EEHPC WG), a member of the Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM), and was the work package lead
for the energy efficient HPC prototyping efforts during
the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE)
1st and 2nd implementation phase projects. He is currently
leading the SIMOPEK project (www.simopek.de) which aims to
model, simulate, and optimize the W4 chiller-less cooling
infrastructure of the LRZ data center. His background is
in scientific visualization and steering, component
architecture for high performance computing, business
workflow system design, and multi-system data collection
and analysis.
