Sudharshan Vazhkudai leads the Technology Integration (TechInt) group in the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). NCCS hosts the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF), which is home to the multi-petaflop Titan supercomputer. TechInt is charged with delivering new technologies into OLCF and other projects at ORNL by identifying gaps in the system software stack and working with the R&D community to develop, harden, and deploy solutions. The technology scope includes storage systems, data management, high-performance networking, and architecture.
Prior to that, He was a Research Scientist in the Computer Science Research group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at ORNL, for over nine years. He joined ORNL in August 2003. In this role, my work had straddled both basic and applied distributed systems research. He has worked on large-scale scientific data management, HPC I/O, storage systems and multicore architectures.
