Alex Pothen is a professor of computer science at Purdue University. His research interests are in combinatorial scientific computing, parallel computing and bioinformatics. He has contributed to sparse matrix algorithms, graph matching, automatic differentiation, spectral graph algorithms. He has helped establish the combinatorial scientific computing community, which now meets biennially through a SIAM Workshop.
