Lauren Michael

Biography
Lauren began working as the first Research Computing
Facilitator (RCF) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
in January 2013, where she engages with researchers in
leveraging the campus's core large-scale computing
resources at the Center for High Throughput Computing
(CHTC) and navigating the larger world of compute-related
services and training. In her past work, Lauren applied
compute-intensive research methods in completing B.S.
degrees in Biology and Chemistry, and a M.S. in
Biophysics, and enjoyed a number of teaching,
communication, and leadership experiences.
As a result of the success of the UW-pioneered “facilitator” model, Lauren now leads CHTC's RCF team , organizes a growing community of RCFs across campus, and leads the national network of Advanced CyberInfrastructure Research and Education Facilitators (ACI-REF). She also serves as the UW-Madison principle investigator on multiple funded projects around compute-driven research transformation and national communities of research computing professionals.
