Ron Kikinis

Biography
Dr. Kikinis is the founding Director of the Surgical
Planning Laboratory, Department of Radiology, Brigham and
Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, and
a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, in
which he is holds a named distinguished directorship of
biomedical informatics. Before joining Harvard and Brigham
and Women’s Hospital he did research in computer vision at
ETH, having received his MD from the University of Zurich.
He’s won many grants and awards, including the MICCAI
Society “Enduring Impact Award”. Dr. Kikinis has been one
of the fundamental leaders in image processing algorithms
for medical image data, perhaps most famously as the PI of
the 3DSlicer project, a fundamental tool in all of
volumetric medical image analysis.
