Student Volunteers play a key role in supporting the overall conference and conference attendees. Undergraduate and graduate student volunteers help with the administration of the conference and have the opportunity to participate in student-oriented activities, including professional development workshops, technical talks by famous researchers and industry leaders, exploring the exhibits and developing lasting peer connections.
The Student Volunteers program accepts a large number of students, both domestic and international, with the goals of transitioning students into the main conference by way of the Technical Program, Doctoral Showcase, and Early Career professional development sessions and creating new members of the HPC community. Students are required to work a minimum number of hours during the conference, giving them time to engage in important education and career-advancing activities such as tutorials, technical talks, panels, poster sessions and workshops.
SCinet Student Volunteers
In addition to the standard student volunteers program, approximately 20 students have been selected to work alongside professionals from educational institutions, high-performance computing centers, network equipment vendors, U.S. national laboratories, research institutions, and research networks and telecommunication carriers to build and operate the network. These students attend the conference for the week prior to set up the network and stay for one extra day to perform teardown tasks.
