SCinet Contributors Program and Volunteer Travel Support Fund
SC17 will once again host one of the most powerful and advanced networks in the world – SCinet. Created each year for the conference, SCinet brings to life a very high-capacity network that supports the revolutionary applications and experiments that are the hallmark of the SC conference. SCinet will link the convention center to research and commercial networks around the world. In doing so, SCinet serves as the platform for exhibitors to demonstrate the advanced computing resources of their home institutions and elsewhere by supporting a wide variety of bandwidth-driven applications, including supercomputing and cloud computing.

SCinet Contributors play a critical role in the planning and operations of SCinet. Their generous support offered in the form of time and resources makes SCinet possible. Realizing this role, SCinet formalized the relationship and introduced the Contributor Program in 2014 to recognize technology contributions and donations for which SCinet and the SC Conference have partnered with industry and non-profit organizations for several years. This program aims to increase the visibility of contributors that support the innovative and cutting-edge technologies displayed at SC each year. In turn, this will ensure the long-term viability of SCinet relationships with its contributors.
The SC17 Committee also continues to facilitate the Volunteer Travel Support Fund, offering sponsors another way to support SCinet by donating funds to help network engineers and IT professionals who wish to volunteer and contribute to the SCinet effort. Through this Volunteer Travel Support Fund, awardees will receive grants for travel expenses to support and build SCinet. Selected IT professionals from around the globe will have the opportunity to volunteer their skills and expertise with other like-minded and top professionals to create the powerful SCinet architecture.
We invite new and existing contributors to join or continue to participate in one or both of these programs. For new contributors interested in SCinet, we invite you to join this community of professionals who are dedicated to building the fastest, most innovative platform in research and industry. For our existing contributors, we offer our sincere thanks and we hope you will look forward to these new program opportunities to collaborate with the HPC community.
