Prof. Elie Hachem is the head of the Computing & Fluids research group (CFL) at MINES ParisTech – CEMEF, in Sophia Antipolis. He obtained his PhD in 2009 he was awarded twice, by SMAI-GAMNI (best PhD thesis in applied mathematics in France) and by ECCOMAS (best PhD thesis in CFD in Europe). He spent almost a year at Stanford University, invited as an assistant professor to work on computational mathematics. He obtained his habilitation to direct research (HDR) in 2014 and formed his new research group (around 20 researchers including postdoc and PhD candidates). His work on cloud computing were recognized by the IBM Faculty Awards 2014.
